To me, Ianto can tell something is up with Jack, he knows Jack isn’t one to talk about his past, and doesn’t want to pry, so he simply wants to be there with him. Even if something wasn’t clearly wrong he’d want to be with Jack anyway, I’d think.
The way he looks at Jack gets to me alot in this scene also. *sniffles*
